Job summary

The City of Indianapolis and Marion County's Metropolitan Emergency Services Agency seeks a 911 Control Operator to receive and evaluate emergency and non-emergency calls for fire, medical, and police services. You will coordinate radio communications, dispatch units, and provide pre-arrival and medical instructions as required.

The dispatch center operates 24/7; candidates must pass full background, psychological and physical exams and will pursue EMD, APCO PST1 or department equivalent, and

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and Telecommunicator training.
• Excellent hearing and eyesight; able to type accurately.
• Pass background, psychological and physical exams; CPR and EMD certifications within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Processes emergency and non-emergency requests via telephone, radio, or in person.
• Remains apprised of all fire, EMS, and police officials within the authority of the 911 Center.
• Enters information into CAD, VESTA, Map, EMSystem, Location, or other systems accurately.
• Acquires and maintains certifications as required by the division.
• Operates CAD, Motorola MC7500, Locution, EMSystem, VESTA Telephone, VESTA Mapping, recording, and monitoring devices.
• Operates specialized platforms and technology systems for informational checks and requests to include CJIS associate systems, wrecker ordering systems, and RMIS access.
• Must maintain confidentiality at all times.
• This list of duties may be expanded based on agency needs and 24/7 operations.
