Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a trained-operator for handheld 3D scanning projects across rebar mats, corroded pipes, and machine parts. You will capture data on site, verify completeness, and process into meshes and scan-to-CAD files for client use.

Proficiency with Artec Studio and various scanners is required, with CAD literacy and the ability to travel to regional hubs. This hourly role offers overtime during pours and plant windows.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software; mesh cleanup and registration.
• Familiarity with CAD and ability to read structural or fabrication drawings.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement and other structures.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlaps.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export formats.
• Produce deviation maps, reports, crack maps, pit-depth tables, and anchor bolt coordinates against drawings.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks; hand-clean meshes for modeling team.
• Document capture procedure, settings, and chain of custody on forensic matters.
• Keep scanner, batteries, and calibration records organized.
• Coordinate access, permits, and safety with superintendents and plant contacts.
• Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
