Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a 3D scanning technician to perform handheld scanning on diverse assets, from rebar mats to corroded pipes, and to produce deliverables for clients. You will run scans on site, verify data, and process through Artec Studio to prepare meshes and CAD-ready files.

The role requires experience with handheld scanners, CAD familiarity, and a readiness to travel to regional hubs.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects.
Familiarity with Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software; mesh cleanup and registration are required.
Ability to read structural or fabrication drawings in CAD programs.
Comfortable on active construction sites and able to carry equipment, climb, and work outdoors.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement and other structures.
Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlapping zones.
Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export to STL/OBJ/E57 and CAD formats.
Produce deviation maps, reports, and alignment checks against drawings or CAD.
