Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a trained 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners (Artec Leo/Space Spider or similar), capture data on rebar, pipes, beams, and machine parts, and deliver meshes and scan-to-CAD files.

You will process data in Artec Studio, verify site captures, and coordinate access and safety with project teams. The role includes travel to regional hubs, flexible schedules, and hourly pay with overtime.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects.
Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software; mesh cleanup, registration, and export.
Familiarity with CAD drawings and reading structural or fabrication drawings.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement and other structures.
Control drift on large objects with reference features and overlapping zones.
Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export to STL, OBJ, E57, and CAD formats.
Produce deviation color maps, measurement reports, crack maps, pit-depth tables, and anchor bolt reports.
Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks.
Document capture procedure, equipment settings, and chain of custody on forensic matters.
Keep the scanner, batteries, and calibration records in order.
Coordinate access, permits, and safety with superintendents and plant contacts.
Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
