Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a 3D Scanning Technician to operate handheld scanners (Artec Leo) on varied sites, process data with Artec Studio, and deliver scan-to-CAD outputs for assessment and fabrication teams.

You will plan scans before pours, manage drift and registration, and generate reports and color deviation maps to support project QC. Occasional travel to regional hubs is required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software; mesh cleanup and export.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement; inspect large objects and structures on site.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlapping zones; verify capture completeness on site.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export to STL/OBJ/E57/CAD formats; produce deviation maps and reports.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks; clean meshes for modeling team.
• Document capture procedures, equipment settings, and chain of custody; coordinate access, permits, and safety with superintendents.
• Travel to regional hubs as assigned; work on active construction sites and industrial plants.
