Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a trained-operator 3D scanning technician to run handheld Artec Leo and deliver scan-to-CAD data for concrete, steel, and industrial projects.

You will plan scans, verify capture on site, process in Artec Studio, and produce meshes, measurement reports, and coordinate with clients across regional hubs; travel and field work required; a valid driver's license and the ability to carry equipment are essential.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software.
• Familiarity with CAD and with reading structural drawings.
• Comfortable on active construction sites and in industrial plants.
• Valid driver's license.
• Able to travel and handle equipment.
• Experience with scan-to-CAD or metrology reporting is a plus.
• Certifications such as ACI, NICET, ICC are a plus and sponsorable.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export to STL/OBJ/E57/CAD.
• Produce deviation maps, reports, crack maps, and coordinate reports.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids for reverse engineering or hand clean meshes.
• Document capture procedure and chain of custody.
• Coordinate access, permits, and safety with site contacts.
• Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
