Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners (Artec Leo, Eva, or Space Spider) on real projects—from rebar mats to corroded pipes—capturing data on site and delivering meshes, point clouds, and CAD-ready files for client use.

You will process scans in Artec Studio, verify capture completeness, and build scan-to-CAD solids for reverse engineering. Travel to regional hubs and site safety are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating handheld 3D scanners on real projects.
• Ability to process data in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, textures and export.
• Familiarity with reading structural or fabrication drawings in CAD tools.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of structures and components.
• Control drift and verify capture completeness on site.
• Process scans in Artec Studio and export to STL, OBJ, E57, and CAD formats.
• Produce deviation maps, reports, and anchor bolt coordinates against drawings.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks.
• Document capture procedure and equipment settings for forensic matters.
• Coordinate access, permits, and safety with plant contacts.
• Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
