Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a trained 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners (Artec Leo, Eva, or Space Spider) on concrete, rebar, pipes, and structures. You will capture, check data on site, and deliver meshes, point clouds, and reports in CAD-ready formats.

You must read drawings, process data in Artec Studio, and build scan-to-CAD solids while coordinating access and safety with plant staff. Travel to regional hubs is expected; a valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating handheld structured-light or laser scanners on real projects.
• Ability to process data in Artec Studio and export standard formats.
• Ability to read CAD drawings and familiarize with construction site safety.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of concrete elements and structures.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlap.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, export.
• Produce deviation maps and anchor bolt coordinate reports.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering.
• Document procedures and chain of custody for forensic matters.
• Coordinate access, permits, and safety with site contacts.
• Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
