Job summary

RRC Solutions Group in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead second-shift paint operations, overseeing one Team Leader and about 25 employees. The role emphasizes safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and employee engagement in a unionized automotive manufacturing facility.

You will assign labor, monitor line performance, partner with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams to resolve defects, and drive Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Strong floor leadership skills with accountability in a fast-paced operation.
• Automotive manufacturing experience and knowledge of painting processes preferred.
• Experience in unionized settings, including adherence to work rules and discipline.
• Familiarity with automated lines, PLCs, robotics, and production automation.
• Understanding of production metrics, quality controls, and downtime management.
• Excellent communication, coaching, problem-solving and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to cover the full second-shift schedule and provide shift handovers.
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or leadership training beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on leadership for second-shift paint operations and ensure safe, efficient execution of the production schedule.
• Lead Team Leader and ~25 employees across loading, unloading, inventory, and quality functions.
• Assign labor and resources to meet daily production requirements and maintain shift continuity.
• Monitor line performance, quality, scrap, downtime, and material usage with timely corrective actions.
• Promote safety culture and ensure compliance with PPE, chemical-handling, and environmental rules.
• Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and Production to resolve defects and variation.
• Troubleshoot automated paint line, robotics, conveyors, sensors, and related equipment.
• Ensure proper staging and tracking of paint, components, packaging, and materials.
• Conduct shift start-up meetings and provide effective handovers to the next shift.
• Train and develop employees; enforce standardized work and workplace policies in a unionized setting.
• Complete production reports and drive continuous improvement via Lean, 5S, root-cause problem solving.
