Job summary

Qualifications

• Supervisory experience in a high-volume manufacturing setting.
• Ability to lead and coach a second-shift team.
• Automotive/manufacturing experience with plastics/painting preferred.
• Familiarity with unionized environments and bargaining agreements.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work the full second shift schedule.
• High school diploma or equivalent; higher qualifications are beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on leadership for second-shift paint operations and ensure safe, efficient execution of the production schedule.
• Lead one Team Leader and ~25 employees across loading, unloading, line support, inventory, material handling, and quality functions.
• Assign labor and resources to meet daily production requirements and maintain shift continuity.
• Monitor paint-line performance, quality, scrap, downtime, and material usage; take corrective action as needed.
• Promote safety culture and ensure compliance with procedures, PPE, chemical-handling standards, and regulations.
• Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and Production to resolve defects and variation.
• Troubleshoot automated paint line, robotics, conveyors, sensors, and controls; escalate as needed.
• Ensure materials are staged, tracked, and controlled for uninterrupted operations.
• Conduct shift start-up meetings, set priorities, and handover to next shift/leadership.
• Train employees, reinforce standardized work, and address performance within a unionized environment.
• Complete production reports and drive Lean manufacturing, 5S, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvements.
