Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO in Norfolk, Virginia, seeks a 2nd shift Paint Foreman to lead a team of 8–20 mechanics on the paint crew. The role reports to the General Foreman and requires ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence on the shop floor.

Typical hours are 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm. Candidates must be able to access Navy installations with DBIDS/NAVSEA badges and bring strong leadership and production skills to the department.

Qualifications

• BA/BS plus 2 years in related field or AA/AS plus 4 years directly related experience or 8 years directly related ship building/ship repair experience.
• In-depth knowledge of ship repair trade facets and related production processes.
• Familiar with MIL-STD-009-12, MIL-STD-1689, and S9074-AR-GIB-010/278.

Responsibilities

• On-site deck-plate leader for the trade, guiding a team of 8–20 mechanics.
• Plan manpower requirements and communicate to General Foreman.
• Review schedules and develop 1–2 week plans for the team.
