Job summary

The role requires experience in ship repair, knowledge of production processes, and ability to read drawings and procedures. Must be able to obtain Navy access badges and work in a naval-ship environment; regular on-site attendance is essential.

Qualifications

• Typically has a BA/BS plus 2 years in a related field or AA/AS plus 4 years directly related experience or 8 years directly related ship building/ship repair experience.
• In-depth knowledge in all facets of the trade relating to ship repair.
• Effective leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
• Proven ability in people environment.

Responsibilities

• On-site deck-plate leader for the trade, guiding a team of 8–30 to accomplish production activities.
• Plan manpower and communicate resource requirements to the General Foreman.
• Review schedules, develop 1–2 week plans, and report progress.
• Assign work, monitor safety and quality, and ensure proper tooling and drawings are available.
• Attend daily production meetings and coordinate with other shops to meet goals.
• Enforce discipline, performance reviews, and adherence to collective bargaining agreements.
