Job summary

National Steel and Shipbuilding Com in Norfolk, VA, seeks a Pipe Shop Foreman for the second shift (3pm–11pm) to lead a team of journeyman mechanics in ship repair. You will plan, assign, and supervise production, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence in a naval shipyard environment.

The ideal candidate will have a BA/BS or AA/AS with related shipbuilding experience (or 8 years directly related), and must be able to access Navy facilities and work on vessels, with strong leadership

Qualifications

BA/BS or AA/AS with related shipbuilding experience.
Experience with production processes, quality control, and safety.
Ability to read drawings, procedures and estimates.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of 8–30 skilled workers on ship repair production.
Plan manpower and communicate resource needs to the General Foreman.
Review schedules and develop 1–2 week plans for all team members.
Assign work and ensure safety, quality, and timely execution.
Ensure tooling, drawings, and procedures are available and applied.
Attend daily production meetings and monitor progress against goals.
Enforce Collective Bargaining Agreement requirements and drive continuous improvement.
