Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist for 2nd shift at our Moody, AL facility. The role focuses on setup and operation of large machines, with tight tolerances and precision measurement.

Strong blueprint reading and tool selection skills are essential for success in this hands-on role. You will work on vertical turning lathes and boring mills, perform setup, measure critical dimensions, and ensure safe crane and forklift operation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a machine operator/Machinist.
• 2+ years reading and interpreting blueprints.
• 1+ years operating King-style boring mills and/or VTLs.
• Ability to safely use a variety of precision tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set up large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump components and operate large lathes used for repair.
• Read blueprints and use micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify tolerances.
• Maintain tight tolerances as low as .0005 inches when required.
• Select cutting tools and determine speeds/feeds for surface finish.
• Work overtime as needed and safely operate forklift and overhead crane.
• Rig and lift heavy components; assist in disassembly and rebuilding.
