Job summary

Vanderlande’s JFK Team is seeking a dedicated professional to monitor baggage handling system controls and IT applications, ensuring continuous operation of Terminal One's baggage system. You will manage incidents, coordinate with operations and maintenance staff, and support customers with timely responses to disruptions.

Role requires a 24/7 shift pattern, strong IT and communication skills, and willingness to travel internationally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in logistics, IT, industrial or computer engineering.
• Affinity with intralogistics and automated handling systems.
• Experience managing 24/7 mission critical IT systems.
• Excellent communication skills in a customer-facing role.
• Willingness to work an ongoing 8-hour shift schedule covering 24/7 operations.
• Willingness to travel occasionally internationally.
• Experience in database management (Oracle/WebLogic).
• Knowledge of Windows/Linux/Unix operating systems.
• Airport ID badge eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the SCADA system to oversee baggage handling operations.
• Respond to alarms and system notifications to maintain performance.
• Coordinate with operation and maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks and assist maintenance crews.
• Generate reports on system performance, incidents, and maintenance.
• Implement procedures to optimize baggage handling efficiency.
• Guide daily operations using high-level controls software (VIBES).
• Act as first point of contact for operational issues and customer requests.
• Communicate disruptions and initiate contingency protocols; reschedule flights or bags as needed.
• Initiate ITIL incident management for issues and escalate as required.
• Research issues, analyze data, and propose preventive solutions.
• Coordinate escalations to remote helpdesk or other support teams.
• Provide status updates to customers and stakeholders per SLAs.
• Report and log service calls; generate weekly/monthly reports.
• Conduct regular PM of control room equipment and ensure backups.
• Coordinate with TSA, CBRA and OSR staff as needed.
• Maintain system startup procedures and handle configuration changes.
• Ensure smooth daily start-ups and handle business continuity scenarios.
