Vancouver Public Schools is seeking a Special Program Paraeducator 1 for an Intensive Academic Classroom. The position is 6.5 hours per day, 9 months per year and is a one-on-one assignment with students who require targeted support.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED with possible further education credits or a ParaPro assessment score. Experience with students who have disabilities and strong teamwork skills are preferred, along with the ability to maintain

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED with additional credential options (Associate’s degree credits or ParaPro score).
• One year experience with children in an educational setting preferred.
• Experience as part of an educational team and strong interpersonal skills preferred.
• Ability to solve problems, analyze situations, and resolve conflicts.
• Experience with children with moderate to severe disabilities preferred.

Responsabilités

• Treat coworkers, students, parents and others with dignity and respect at all times.
• Serve as a positive role model and support students and teacher in implementing goals.
• Work as a flexible team member to assist the teacher with goals and objectives on student IEPs.
• Participate in team meetings and provide observational input when appropriate.
• Manage student behavior and provide instructional assistance as directed by certificated staff.
• De-escalate students during emotional/behavioral crises and follow behavior plans as needed.
• Assist in transporting or escorting students as required.
• Assist with preparing materials, data collection, and lesson-related tasks.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the administrator.
