Job summary

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs in Lindenhurst, IL, seeks an Instructional Aide 1:1 to support students in Grades K-12 within a Special Education program. Starting rate is $18-$22 per hour, based on experience, with a commitment to fostering growth, independence, and success.

You will collaborate with teachers to implement IEPs, provide individualized instruction, monitor progress, and help students develop essential skills in classroom and community settings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or higher preferred.
• IL paraprofessional license required or in process.
• Ability to obtain crisis management training certification.
• Experience providing instruction or support to children, preferably in special education.
• Experience with students with learning disabilities or autism spectrum disorders.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers to foster a supportive, high-achieving learning environment.
• Implement individualized instruction and behavioral interventions on-site and in the community.
• Instruct and monitor students during lessons, ensuring fidelity and progress.
• Track progress and communicate with teachers about successes and needs.
• Manage student behavior with consistent disciplinary measures.
• Document student behaviors and performance; prepare reports as needed.
• Communicate with students, families, and staff; maintain confidentiality.
• Support accreditation activities and school meetings; participate as requested.
