Overall Role Purpose

As VP Controlling DHL Global Forwarding Asia Pacific you will be responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of financial performance in CREST & Forwin and ensure compliance with all legal and Group financial guidelines. Provides monthly analysis of the financial performance of the business (Products, Customers and Countries).

Drives the Risk and Opportunity reporting for the region and manages the Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting processes. Provides BCA analysis and takes care of the regional head office controlling. Drive continuous improvement of the controlling activities and cost of finance.

Main Tasks & Key Responsibilities
  • Define Controlling strategy for the region including definition of plans, targets, processes and budgets considering regional objectives, Group guidelines and standards, accounting principles and regulations
  • Plan, organize and oversee delivery and quality of Controlling initiatives and activities including budgeting, forecasting and mid-term planning for the region to achieve financial transparency, to control regions financial assets, and to provide complete and accurate financial and / or non-financial information and records
  • Direct and lead critical Controlling activities, initiatives and subjects across the region with significant impact on overall results and/ or significant business risk potential
  • Coordinate budgets for all major regional projects
  • Drive development and implementation of Controlling systems and processes that align with regional business objectives and work across multiple business areas or across countries
  • Influence wider regional financial strategy and consult top management of the region on evaluation of ongoing and future business activities with regard to profitability and financial risk
  • Identify financial risks for the region and provide timely advice to ensure risk management and early warning
  • Present findings and recommendations to the top executive group / board including audit and financial analyst reports, profit and loss and balance sheets, and regulatory filings
  • Analyze complex issues extensively, introduce and steer innovations and improvements in existing Controlling processes, systems, techniques and methods for enhanced effectiveness and efficiency, e.g. through digitalization and automation
  • Influence critical stakeholders to reach an agreement where parties are skeptical or unwilling to accept new concepts, practices and approaches
  • Deliver innovation that influences the way the region operates and its profitability
  • Oversee building up reporting processes, collection of data and definition of KPIs, where applicable (e.g. for ESG Controlling)
Required Experience & Qualification
  • Relevant university degree, professional accounting or controlling qualification, MBA
  • 7-10 years working experience in relevant business environment of similar size
  • Strong analytical skills, solid business acumen and conceptual thinking
  • Good relationship management, able to build and manage a successful business partnership
  • Strong leadership capabilities, people management
  • Constructive challenge (able to stand up for his ideas and challenge for the better)
  • Ability to influence and interact with senior management
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work with different cultures
  • Able to propose solutions, resolve problems and make decisions
