Perform routine system checks and monitoring to ensure reliable performance and uptime. Verify that alerts, antivirus updates, security patches, and backup processes are properly executed.
  • Provide hands‑on IT assistance to vessel crew, resolving technical issues efficiently to reduce downtime. Act as the main point of coordination between shipboard staff, shore‑based IT support, operational teams, and external service providers.
  • Enforce and oversee onboard cybersecurity measures such as endpoint protection, user access controls, and secure configurations. Ensure full adherence to maritime IT requirements, internal policies, and data protection regulations. Conduct security reviews and maintain readiness for internal and external audits.
  • Drive the implementation of IT projects onboard, including software upgrades, license renewals, antivirus deployments, and communication system enhancements. Prepare documentation, budget estimates, and project timelines to support new initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate IT asset records for assigned vessels. Conduct quarterly equipment audits and update inventories within the asset management system. Monitor and manage software licenses, renewals, warranties, and service agreements.
  • Support preparation of annual budgets for vessel IT operations and projects. Carry out cost analyses, recommend efficiency improvements, and coordinate with vendors on system maintenance, installations, and issue resolution.
  • Keep all vessel IT documentation up to date, covering systems, networks, and processes. Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), user guides, and troubleshooting manuals for crew reference.
  • Deliver basic IT training and awareness sessions for crew members as needed. Facilitate effective knowledge transfer during crew rotations to ensure smooth continuity of IT operations.
  • Oversee office IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage systems (e.g., Synology), and cloud platforms. Ensure systems are robust, secure, and compliant with disaster recovery and business continuity requirements.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex IT issues beyond L1 and L2 support. Lead troubleshooting and resolution of advanced technical problems, including incident recovery and architecture‑level solutions.
  • Ensure consistent and verified backups of both office and vessel IT systems (including Synology devices). Regularly test recovery procedures to confirm the reliability of data restoration.
