Responsibilities
- Ensure all assigned vessels fully comply with HSSE requirements, the Company Safety Management System (SMS), and all applicable international and statutory regulations, including ISM Code, ISPS Code, STCW, MLC, and Flag/Port State requirements.
- Oversee ship stability, navigation, mooring, and cargo operations for assigned vessels, liaising and coordinating with relevant stakeholders.
- Plan and conduct vessel inspections, internal and external audits, navigation audits, and SIRE inspections, ensuring timely rectification and closure of all deficiencies, non-conformities, and observations in accordance with DPA schedules.
- Coordinate and participate in ship–shore emergency drills.
- Ensure all nautical charts, ECDIS systems, publications, and port marine notices are up to date; verify that vessel certificates and statutory documents are valid and approved in line with the Company’s Q-CER list.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with the Company’s environmental management policies.
- Review, monitor, and follow up on deck monthly reports, the Master’s SMS review (annual), and Master’s navigation reports (annual) for assigned vessels.
- Support onboard incident investigations by collecting and analyzing relevant information, and participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) when appointed by the DPA.
- Perform duties responsibly and collaboratively, upholding the Company’s mission, vision, values, and policies while fostering a strong safety culture.
- Carry out additional HSSE-related tasks as assigned by the HSSE Manager to support ongoing compliance and operational excellence.
Requirements
- Recognised degree in Maritime Studies or an equivalent qualification.
- Minimum Class 2 Deck Officer Certificate of Competency (Chief Officer).
- At least one (1) year of sea service as Chief Officer onboard oil tankers.
- Master’s Certificate of Competency and sea service as Master is an added advantage.
- Prior shore-based ship management experience preferred.
- Strong technical expertise in vessel operations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
