Job summary

A leading trading company in Singapore is seeking a Trade Finance Analyst to manage and oversee trade finance processes, including the issuance of Letters of Credit and compliance with legal requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience in trade finance, strong communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. You will collaborate with teams to optimize cash flow and maintain stakeholder relationships. Fluency in Chinese is an added advantage.

Qualifications

  • Background in Banking or commodities sector is preferred.

Job description

The Trade Finance Analyst will be working closely with the trading desks, operations and financial institutions on Trade Finance transactions. Joining an established and developing function, the Trade Finance Analyst is expected to play a leading role in building an efficient and effective role in supporting business functions as they expand.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the entire trade finance process from initiation to completion, including drafting, proposal, negotiation, and execution.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate submission of export documentation in compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Manage all trade finance activities, including the issuance of Letters of Credit (LCs), document presentations, and discounting operations, ensuring smooth and efficient processing.
  • Draft and issue Letters of Credit, bid bonds, and guarantees while ensuring full adherence to compliance, legal, and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with local and international banks, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to facilitate effective trade finance operations.
  • Monitor and track LC transactions to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies.
  • Manage Payment Undertakings and ensure appropriate documentation and follow-up.
  • Collaborate closely with the Credit team to manage and mitigate counterparty risk through trade finance instruments.
  • Work in coordination with the Treasury team to support and achieve the company’s annual financial and operational objectives.
  • Support the Treasury team in optimizing cash flow through effective management of trade finance transactions.
  • Maintain organized filing and archiving of all transaction-related documentation in accordance with company policies.
Requirements
  • Experience with trade finance and UCP regulations
  • Background in Banking or commodities industry is preferred
  • Good command of Microsoft Office (i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Proficiency in data analytics and advanced Excel is an added advantage
  • Able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Effective communicator – able to liaise with all stakeholders and financial institutions
  • Good team player with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team
  • Fluency in Chinese is an added advantage to communicate effectively with HQ internal stakeholders.
  • Good knowledge of trade finance products in the market
