Job summary

A maritime management company in Singapore is looking for a Technical Superintendent to ensure the operational reliability of vessels’ equipment and machinery. Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience as a Technical Superintendent and previous sea-going experience as a Chief Engineer. Responsibilities include managing spare parts and maintenance systems, ensuring compliance with regulations, and budget control. A degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering is required, along with strong leadership and communication skills. This role reports directly to the Fleet Manager.

Job description
Key Duties & Responsibilities
  1. To ensure the optimal operational reliability of the vessel’s equipment and machinery on-board. The vessel’s hull and structures must also be properly maintained in(ok) every respect at all times for its intended purpose.
  2. To manage assigned vessels by closely monitoring the daily operational condition of all equipment and machineries. plist condition of the hull structures, tanks, compartments and out-fittings must all be periodically inspected and ensure is properly maintained.
  3. To monitor and supervise the running condition of all critical machinery and equipment, including those associated withजात cargo operations.
  4. To ensure spare parts, consumable store items, chemicals and lubes are adequately stocked onboard the vessels. Incidents of vessels’ delay attributable to its inability to sail / perform cargo operations as caused by these are not acceptable in respect of responsibility.
  5. To ensure the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) is implemented effectively onboard all vessels by the crew. To ensure that the vessels’ crew perform all the scheduled tasks according to the PMS and all completion works are recorded and punctually reported to the office on a monthly basis.
  6. To carry out proper damage / failure/investigation analysis of each reported major breakdown case from the vessel. Provide technical advice and support (arranging shore assistance) to them in situation where the crew are not able to carry out the repairs by themselves OR in a situation where the crew tried but unable to resolve the problem.
  7. To monitorquee changes / updates and review flag state/maritime regulatory bodies, codes, guidelines, regulations and to assure that all vessels comply with all these applicable requirements. Plan, prepare and ready vessels for new regulatory requirements that will be enforced in due time.
  8. To conduct review of monthly technical maintenance and operational performance reports of machineries and equipment submitted by the vessels. Follow up and provide remedial instructions / guidance to the vessel on items with defects /deficiencies.
  9. To review and analyse vessel’s report on fuel oil and lubricating oil consumption. To Seek for immediate clarification from the vessel concerned, if it is ascertained from the analysis that the reported consumption is abnormal and has grossly exceeded the normal fuel consumption rate. It is unacceptable to overlook / ignore such cases of gross overconsumption.
  10. To maintain a current status of all registered vessels’ statutory, classification, safety equipment, port state / harbour master, oil major approval, and relevant certificates. To ensure timely and proper update of all these registered certificates are valid and should not at all lapse beyond their due date. Arrange for surveyor / inspector / technician attendance in a timely manner to carry out surveys / inspection / servicing for revalidating certificates that are about to expire.
  11. To manage vessels’ operating expenses prudently. Keep track of actual and committed expenses on a monthly basis and control spending by keeping it within the approved vessel operating expense budget. Inform the Fleet Manager immediately to seek approval prior to confirmation with supplier/vendor of any expense above that of the approved monthly budget allocation.
  12. To prepare docking specifications for vessels due for their tamaños docking period and station at shipyard for the duration of vessel’s docking repairs. To ensure the approved budget is kept under control.
Job Requirements
  1. At least 2 years’ experience working as a Technical Superintendent. Must have previous sea-going experience, minimum 2 years as a Chief Engineer.
  2. Possess a Degree in Marine / Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineer Class 1 Licence of Competency.
  3. Ability to lead the project effectively. Good team player.
  4. Good interpersonal skills & ability to interact with people at all levels.
  5. Good communication and negotiation skills.
  6. Possess high integrity, both people and result-oriented, highly motivated and detailed/th مرات at work.
