Job description

XCL World Academy is seeking to appoint a Secondary Years Teacher Librarian. This is a full-time contract position commencing in August 2026.

Preference will be given to teachers who have relevant subject‑specific IB MYP and DP experience, as well as a clear track record of superior teaching in international school settings.

Main Responsibilities

• Teachers should be willing to contribute positively to the collaborative culture of the department and broader SY Team.
• Demonstrates professional ethics, international-mindedness and the school’s mission.
• Adheres cooperatively to XCL policies and regulations, including duties, deadlines, programme requirements (IB).
• Seeks clarification in case of lack of clarity to fully meet all expectations of the role and sets and maintains high standards of professionalism.
• Contributes to the development of curriculum and assessment documentations.
• Show exemplary attendance to work eg. recognizes the importance and provides support for XCL extended school day activities.
• To successfully manage the Library across the Secondary Years – inclusive of MYP, DP and High School Diploma programmes establishing goals and expectations with both staff and students to ensure that the Library is used to its maximum potential.
• To manage the day to day running of both the Secondary School Library and school satellite libraries.
• To ensure that the resourcing of the Library meets the teaching and learning goals across all sections of the school.
• To promote and participate in ongoing staff learning, training and development.
• To teach classes as required, particularly in relation to the IB Learner Profile and Approaches to Learning skills, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.

Person Specifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or college.
• Teacher professional certification specific to applied position.
• Minimum of three years’ experience working as a Teacher Librarian or in a related field.
• Knowledge of the IB programmes (MYP, DP).
• Demonstrates the ability to think strategically and creatively and is able to communicate ideas clearly.
• Effective relationship, team building and communication skills with the ability to be motivational, adaptable, inclusive and resilient.
• Has a sense of humor in daily interactions with students and staff.
• Experience in teaching learners with diverse needs.
