About our group:

The Multi Disk Writer (MDW) or Multi Disk Spiral Writer (MDSW) Process & Product team oversees the final stages of media manufacturing processes, ensuring the smooth operation and high servo quality of media to meet customer requirements. Our mission involves optimizing and improving current processes to meet internal and external customer needs. We drive the successful integration and improvement of HAMR (Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording) technology to enhance our production processes.

About the role - you will:
  • Be responsible for MDSW & Multi Disk Spiral Writer Certificate (MDSWC) product & process metrics.
  • Evaluate & optimize MDW/MDSW pattern quality & defect thermal asperity (TA) quality.
  • Collaborate with Media Application team, QA, Media FA, SFE & MDW internal teams for drive & MDXW failure analysis and manufacturing metrics improvement.
  • Utilize software programming (Python/scripts) for process evaluation, optimization, and improvements.
  • Work closely with product development teams to ensure successful integration of HAMR technology into new products.
  • Conduct software evaluations and troubleshooting of HAMR-related systems to identify and resolve issues.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in HAMR technology and propose innovative solutions to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
  • Actively work with Data Scientists from other Seagate departments & MDW Data Scientist Interns.
About you:
  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Self-motivated learner, keen to acquire new skills to improve efficiency.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a global environment.
  • Excellent analytical ability with good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work independently or as a team player with flexibility to adjust to changing priorities.
Your experience includes:
  • Knowledge of servo pattern writing in hard disk.
  • Knowledge of servo, drive servo copy & drive test algorithm.
  • Knowledge of programming (Python, Matlab, etc.).
  • Knowledge of HAMR (Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording) technology.
  • Good Six Sigma knowledge/strong data analysis skills.
