Job description

The Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials (I-FIM) is seeking a specialist associate to provide essential day-to-day IT and AV support within the institute, helping to maintain smooth operations for end-user computing, institute's IT services, and seminar/event support. You will be the primary on-site point of contact for support requests and will coordinate resolution through to closure, including escalation to NUS IT and vendors when required.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide first-line IT support and troubleshoot hardware/software issues (e.g., endpoints, peripherals, printers, common applications), including timely user updates and follow through to closure
  • Provide AV and hybrid meeting support for seminars, events, and meetings (e.g., Zoom/Teams setup, microphones, cameras, displays), including pre-checks and live support when required
  • Coordinate vendors for warranty, repairs, servicing, and maintenance, including scheduling and closure tracking
  • Support IT procurement activities (i.e., specifications, quotation coordination, receiving, and initial setup of approved assets/peripherals)
  • Configure, set up, and allocate IT resources and equipment for users and shared facilities, including basic server/hardware setup support as directed
  • Maintain accurate asset records, inventory, and routine IT housekeeping
  • Work closely with NUS IT to address institute's IT needs requiring central IT action
  • Administer IT-related service requests (e.g., guest Wi-Fi requests, visitor accounts, mailbox creation, and group mailing lists) in accordance with institute/NUS procedures
Requirements
  • ITE Higher Nitec or Polytechnic Diploma in IT or related discipline
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on IT support experience in on-site/desktop support/helpdesk
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently with good judgement on escalation
  • Comfortable supporting AV and hybrid meeting setups (e.g., Zoom/Teams and common AV connections)
  • Strong service ownership - responsive, reliable, and able to manage multiple requests with clear communication
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
