Software Engineer (NodeJS and/or Golang)

This is a fixed term contract role. The engagement is from February 2026 to February 2027.

What will you do?

• Develop the Smart Nation infrastructure and applications and facilitate collaboration with citizens and businesses to co‑develop technologies.
• Support Singapore’s vision of building a Smart Nation – a nation of possibilities empowered through information‑communications technology and related engineering.
• Help catapult government infrastructure into the new digital era with faster time to market, operational agility, automated deployment, and scalability.
• Design, prototype, build, and operate different products and services in an agile, bold, and collaborative environment.
• As a Backend Software Engineer, contribute your past experience to elevate the team’s competency.
• Recognise that experiences of failure are as valuable as those of success.
• Drive, implement, deploy, maintain, and operate products or key components of your products.
• Work closely with different teams to deliver the best possible and impactful solutions.
• Collaborate with leading industry experts and highly motivated peers.
• Take ownership over feature design and implementation, focusing on sound technical choices and maintainability.

What are we looking for?

• 3–5 years of relevant experience.
• Proficient in at least one programming language (JavaScript/TypeScript, Golang, Java, Python, or C++).
• Experience in Node.js or Golang is preferred.
• Familiar with common Internet technologies, including backend, database, MQ, caching, microservice architectures, and/or cloud infrastructure.
• Contribute to technical discussions and solutioning sessions.
• Maintain good coding and documentation habits, pay attention to code style, and apply basic design patterns and principles.
• Demonstrate autonomy in driving product direction.
• Capable of creating developer tooling systems from research to implementation.
• Collaborate with different development teams while enabling them to be more productive.
• Exhibit excellent teamwork and communication skills, including explaining complex technical ideas to non‑technical people.
• Adopt a growth mindset and share knowledge to grow with the team.
• Make data‑driven decisions.
• Recognise that problems can be solved in different ways, and evaluate solutions beyond engineering constraints.
• Willingness to learn and own full‑stack responsibilities.
• Experience with frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, JS/TS) and any web framework (React, Angular, Vue).
• Experience with backend JavaScript (Node.js)/TypeScript or other backend frameworks.
• Experience with automated testing.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure deployments (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).

Would be a plus if you have
