Job Function: Nursing

Institution: National University Hospital

Specific Roles and Responsibilities
  1. Perform nursing assessment in accordance with the specialty areas of practice in SOCs.
  2. Plan and implement care according to the assessed needs at respective SOCs.
  3. Monitor, modify plan of care and evaluate patients’ progress according to speciality requirements.
  4. Perform investigations and treatment as prescribed and planned within specialty areas.
  5. Recognise changes in patient’s clinical condition, initiate intervention and elevate to the doctors in a timely manner.
  6. Administer, monitor and evaluate medication/ therapy as prescribed in SOCs.
  7. Manage controlled drugs with strict adherence to hospital guidelines and policies.
  8. Coordinate and follow up on continuity of care and treatment plans including transition of care where applicable within / across specialties or inter-hospital safely, timely and seamlessly.
  9. Conduct patient and/or family education and caregiver training according to the clinical indications, treatment plan and health promotion as appropriate to the specialty practice.
  10. Facilitate / perform procedures within the specialty practice within the scope of practice and credentialed and privileged competencies.
  11. Provide safe and appropriate pre-, peri- and post-operative/ procedure care and monitor clinical condition adequately in accordance with specialty practice.
  12. Guide and direct proper equipment management within speciality areas in accordance with hospital guidelines and policies.
  13. Collaborate with the operation team to maintain adequate stock for clinical utilisation, and optimal equipment function within specialised areas.
  14. Perform any other additional duties as assigned by reporting officer.
