Reporting to the Assistant Senior Manager (Asia), the Tax Associate – Asia is responsible for all regional tax compliance matters for certain YP consolidated legal entities in the relevant jurisdictions. This includes accurate and on‑time tax filings, tax provisioning and transfer pricing documentation as well as monitoring current and impending legislative changes within the region

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Timely and accurate tax filings concerning entities operating in the Asia Pacific region, e.g. corporate income tax returns, GST/SST returns, transfer pricing documentation and withholding tax returns supported by third party service providers (where applicable).
  • Lead tax activities of certain legal entities within the region in accordance with the global tax policies & strategy for the company and its subsidiaries
  • Monitor current and impending legislative and regulatory tax law developments in the relevant jurisdictions to identify potential tax risks and create strategies to mitigate tax risks
  • Support with tax implications of regional business development projects
  • Ensure and track compliance with all applicable laws and regulations across all areas of tax, such as corporate income tax, transfer pricing and transaction taxes as well as indirect taxes relating to subsidiaries in all relevant jurisdictions, and accurate and timely tax filings and tax provisioning
  • Support with local audits, including maintaining up to date audit defense files
  • Provide input for uncertain tax position memoranda relating to subsidiaries in all relevant jurisdictions
  • Support with regional incentives, grants, reliefs, and manage any potential tax disputes that may arise, liaise with the parent organization in relation to tax matters
  • Manage ad hoc matters arising and perform other tasks that may be assigned from time to time
Requirements
  • In-depth expertise across the different areas of tax and cross-border tax matters and a deep commercial understanding
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in tax planning and tax compliance with a multinational organization or a Big 4 company; experience in the infrastructure and/or offshore oil and gas space is considered an advantage
  • The role demands proven strong relationship building, along with the ability to perform effectively in a challenging, international environment.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills, and the ability to communicate complex matters concisely and effectively across all levels of the organization
  • A systematic approach to solve complex problems within a global tax strategy and solution‑oriented thinking with a high attention to detail and big picture view
  • A high degree of self‑motivation, ambitious and hands‑on, with an entrepreneurial mindset; a good team player with the ability to engage with people and deliver within tight deadlines and in a fast‑paced, international environment
  • At least a Bachelor Degree in Finance and/or Law or equivalent and relevant professional qualifications
