R&D Hardware Manager
Role Overview
We are seeking a R&D Hardware Manager to lead the design and development of Battery Management Systems (BMS) and related hardware for battery pack applications such as UPS, power tools, and energy storage systems. This role combines hands‑on technical leadership, team management, and customer‑facing responsibilities to deliver reliable, high‑quality products on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and be fully responsible for end‑to‑end hardware design and development of BMS and analog front‑end circuits for battery pack applications.
- Act as a technical point of contact for customers, responding to technical enquiries, proposals, design reviews, design changes, and issue resolution.
- Provide hands‑on technical leadership while managing the internal hardware team as well as overseas cross‑functional teams and external vendors.
- Drive product development to meet customer requirements, quality standards, cost targets, and delivery schedules.
- Troubleshoot hardware and system‑level issues and define appropriate test plans and validation strategies to ensure product quality.
- Provide technical guidance and support to manufacturing and factory teams, including test verification and production issues.
- Report to and support the Director, ensuring that customer issues are addressed promptly and professionally to maintain high customer satisfaction.
- Promote continuous improvement in design, reliability, and engineering processes.
Qualification & Experience
- Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in hardware design and development.
- Proven experience delivering at least 5 successfully commercialized products in related fields.
- Strong electronic circuit design experience in Battery Management System (BMS) design or Power supply and DC‑DC charger design. Battery technologies know‑how including Lithium, Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH), and supercapacitors.
- Proficient in schematic design using Altium Designer preferred, component selection, and circuit analysis.
- Experience using simulation and design tools such as LTSpice is an advantage.
- Experience in achieving product certification such as UL1973, UN38.3 etc is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to act as a technical interface with customers.
- Proven capability in managing local and remote teams, including cross‑functional and overseas partners.
