About the role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quantity Surveyor to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in our batching plant projects, contributing directly to the success of our operations team.
What you will be working on:
Contractors / Suppliers Management
- Identify and recommend subcontractors and suppliers for all set up related projects
- Review and evaluate subcontractors and suppliers on various aspects (e.g. cost, performance, prices)
- Identify and recommend procedures to the department on how to manage contractors and suppliers
Project Management
- Estimate, monitor, and control project costs throughout the setup phases of the projects
- Identify and recommend subcontractors and suppliers for all set up related projects
- Review and evaluate subcontractors and suppliers on various aspects (e.g. cost, performance, prices)
- Prepare tender documents, evaluate bids from contractors and suppliers, and negotiate contracts to ensure competitive pricing and adherence to project budgets
- Conduct onsite quantity takeoffs and measurements for materials and equipment to ensure accurate project deliverables
- Be familiar with the specifications and scope of works at various stages of the project and to advise colleagues on the contracted design requirements
- Attend technical meetings to keep abreast of design development issues, address any issues or concerns and provide cost escalation alerts
- Participate in project meetings to review project milestones, verify completed works, and facilitate / prompt Project Managers to issue timely payment to subcontractors and suppliers
- Oversee projects during the defects liability period to identify and record any defects or issues that may arise after project completion
- Follow up with Project Managers to ensure all defects and issues are addressed or resolved
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards governing construction projects, including health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Any other ad hoc duties required by the Facilities Manager
What we are looking for:
- Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering equivalent
- Preferably with 1 year of relevant experience in QS fields
- Proactive, well-organised, attentive to detail and able to work under pressure
- Able to work independently with a positive attitude under a tight schedule
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office
- Class 3 driving license
