Job Overview

The Purchasing Executive / Purchaser plays an important role in ensuring the supply of a range of technical equipment for the cabin, deck, electrical, engine, medical, and safety departments on board the vessel. You will be responsible for Order Processing, Supplier Management, and Inventory Control. This role requires strong organizational skills and procurement experience.

Key Responsibilities
Supplier & Procurement Management
  • Source, evaluate, and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct supplier audits and price benchmarking to ensure competitive pricing and reliability.
  • Request, review, and negotiate supplier quotations for necessary products and services.
  • Ensure timely order processing and product availability based on vessel schedules.
  • Develop and maintain an updated product price list and supplier database.
Order Processing & Coordination
  • Handle incoming purchase orders from vessels promptly and accurately.
  • Coordinate with warehouse teams and suppliers to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Communicate clear forwarding instructions to suppliers and update vessels on delivery status.
  • Work closely with vessel port agents for smooth logistics and supply chain operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations, customs clearance, and documentation requirements.
Inventory & Quality Control
  • Ensure that supplied products meet quality standards and vessel requirements.
  • Participate in customer audits to verify the accuracy of supplied products.
  • Identify and develop new sourcing channels to improve supply efficiency.
Qualifications & Requirements

Experience: Minimum 2 years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in the maritime, shipping, or related industry.

OR

  • Education: Diploma or equivalent in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, teamwork, and attention to detail.
  • Immediate availability is preferred.
