We want a senior technologist and people person to take the next step in their career and lead our staff in the Asia Pacific region. We are made up of Systems, Networks and Security Specialists whose job is to build and maintain LMAX's infrastructure, enforce regulatory compliance, and provide a stable platform for our state-of-the-art trading engines.

This role

For this role we’re looking for a hands‑on team lead. You’re familiar with on-premise Linux as well as AWS, and you’ve managed large‑scale infrastructure before.

The Platform and Infrastructure Team Lead guide both the tactical and strategic direction of their team. They have an input into our function’s roadmap, and are responsible for delivering towards our business goals. We expect a 40/60 managerial vs technical split of day‑to‑day activities.

A people‑focused leader who thrives on facilitating team success. You know when to get hands‑on, and when to step back and let your team achieve. You are able to balance operational BAU with project delivery.

You have a strong technical background who can teach people and automate as required.

You are used to interacting with engineers of different disciplines, and non‑technical stakeholders. You have well developed soft skills, providing focus and direction for a team, their processes, and communication.

What the team does
  • Ensure the support, monitoring, reliability, and integrity of our on-premise Linux and Cloud trading platforms.
  • Develop automation that increases the velocity of the team.
  • Design well documented, simple and elegant systems which are easily supportable and secure by design.
  • Provisioning physical, virtual and cloud infrastructure.
  • Pair working with Systems, Networks, and Security Specialists
  • Puppet development and testing in a continuous deployment process
  • Low level TCP debugging for diagnosing errors and latency issues
  • Scripting and automating processes to ensure consistency and repeatability, and adherence to security policies.
  • Security and compliance rules written as code and automatically enforced against IaC templates and deployed resources
  • Monitoring systems to proactively prevent operational issues arising.
  • Hardware upgrades and data centre installations
  • Business As Usual support and resolution of incidents
  • A background in Systems or DevOps engineering and demonstrate a solid understanding of security best practices.
  • Scripting & programming experience (Bash, Python, Ruby), and very familiar with different automation technologies (Puppet, Ansible, Terraform).
  • Mentoring staff, setting goals, balancing delivery vs learning, managing workloads and expectations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication - collaboration with stakeholders and teams in different time zones.
  • Line management and people management of geographically dispersed team.
  • You are interested in or may have some of these skills
  • Strong people skills - you are passionate about leading a team.
  • Strong organisational skills - you’ve run project teams and lead large projects before.
  • Good exposure to AWS technology, such as inter-VPC networking, and EKS.
  • Familiar with physical infrastructure and data centres.
