Job Purpose

To execute (in conjunction with the project specific installation engineers) the mobilisation and offshore execution installation engineering for a vessel within a VSO iEPCI execution stream. To identify and implement standardisation, simplification and industrialisation improvements in order to facilitate continuous improvement of projects offshore execution activities.

Job Description
Offshore
  • Support OMT and vessel execution stream in mobilisation, offshore execution, and demobilisation activities by providing technical interface between vessel departments (e.g. Marine, Dive / Pipelay Control, VLS, ROV, Survey, Deck etc) and Logistics onshore.
  • Fully support and assist installation engineers in ensuring efficient day‑to‑day performance including issue of task plans / dive plans and management of change CRFs.
  • Issue of Port Call Management Plans (PCMP).
  • Ensure all project documentation is filed in line with approved offshore filing structures.
  • Track and maintain execution stream specific installation aids and rigging pool to ensure availability, maximise re‑use and minimise costs including tracking location, availability, orders, and drawings. (Vessel rigging remains with deck coordinator, project rigging and IA with installation engineers leading the offshore execution on behalf of VSO).
  • Assist installation engineers in ensuring that all rigging and project equipment required for specific tasks is ready for operations and crew has been familiarised.
  • Actively participate in and lead toolbox talks, TRA, time outs for safety, permit to work.
  • Review and implement HIRAs, TRAs and SRAs and verify control measures are in place.
  • Consolidate any required information related to vessel performance and communicate to the execution stream onshore to allow for performance analysis (MOC categorisation, schedule variance).
  • Collect lessons learned and best practices impacting the vessel / execution performance to implement in/revise execution stream standard documentation (including reviews with onboard crew).
  • Prepare and issue an updated revision of the operation execution report / operations debrief report for each trip (with support from vessel OMT and clients for required inputs).
  • Collect and store media in line with approved offshore filing structures.
Onshore
  • Support future projects execution by taking an active part in reviewing project deliverables before their submissions (vessel schedule review, applicability of SOPs, HIRAs, projects procedures, lift plans and MTO reviews).
  • Support execution stream tendering with feasibility assessment, vessel schedule review, method statement and MTO reviews.
  • Participate in weekly meetings, workshops, and gate reviews (e.g. constructability / HIRA) as required.
  • Issue equipment specific key deliverables for projects (IFEP forms, EHS settings, equipment settings summary) - key point of contact.
  • Provide vessel familiarisation for new engineers allocated to execution streams.
Standardisation, Simplification, and Industrialisation
  • Develop and issue the various consolidation deliverables in line with the priorities defined by the execution manager (or delegate) and the industrialisation team.
  • Support development and update of track record of vessel operations.
  • Ensure lessons learned and best practices collected offshore are implemented in standard vessel documentation (standard drawings, SOP, guidelines, lift plans, equipment list) in line with VSO iEPCI execution KSFs.
  • Ensure standard vessel documentation is reviewed periodically and approved by vessel OMT.
  • Participate in regular meetings within execution stream for upgrades and improvements and support improvement initiatives on a case‑by‑case basis.
You are meant for this job if:
  • HNC or above in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent professional engineering experience.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English qualification.

Preferred:

  • Degree level qualification in engineering or applied science.
Background and Experience
  • Experience within subsea industry either in a project engineering or offshore operational role.
  • Knowledge and technical understanding of offshore operations.
  • Proven workload and time management skills.
  • Drive and commitment for results to a high standard of excellence.

Nice to have:

Experience in one (or more) of the following subsea construction activities:

  • Diving and remote intervention.
  • Product installation (structures, flexibles, umbilicals and rigid pipe).
  • Inspection, repair and maintenance.
  • Lifting.
Additional Information
  • Position shall involve an offshore rotation onboard the nominated vessel.
  • Rotation shall typically be 3 or 4 weeks onboard / 3 or 4 weeks off (Brazil / North Sea).
  • Rotation shall typically be or 6 weeks onboard, 6 weeks off (all other regions).
  • Rotations may require flexibility to suit vessel schedules and project operations.
  • Rotations will include onshore office work as required by project operations.
