Designation

News Editor (Bahasa Indonesia), CNA Digital

Responsibilities

CNA Digital is looking for an editor to produce quality, innovative, and value-added content for its Bahasa Indonesia site and social media platforms.

The successful candidate will work with a team of talented BI editors and editorial staff across the newsroom in producing translated and/or original content for readers, along with use of visuals and social media and AI tools.

• Ensure that all of CNA Digital's output that is translated into Bahasa Indonesia is accurate and readable, making changes as needed
• Exercise sound judgment in picking or suggesting suitable output from CNA Digital that will be of interest and impact to regional readers
• Monitor breaking news in Indonesia, and provide speedy, accurate English translations of Indonesian-language news coverage
• Scan the output of major Bahasa Indonesian-language news providers for potential story ideas that are relevant to the regional audience
• Contribute Indonesia-related content in English for the Digital site whenever necessary; provide suggestions and inputs for foreign correspondents' assignments
• Collaborate with other teams such as marketing, growth on initiatives to advance the reach and impact as well as Mediacorp's wider goals

This position can be based in Singapore or Indonesia.

Qualifications

• Minimum bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or relevant fields of studies
• Minimum five years of experience in journalism
• Proficient in English and Bahasa Indonesia with the ability to translate accurately from one language to the other
• A meticulous eye for detail with an ability to ensure that translated output meets the highest editorial standards
• An awareness of the news agenda in Indonesia and across Asia, especially familiarity with geopolitics, foreign diplomacy issues
• Solid inter‑personal skills and a strong team player
• A willingness to put in extra hours when needed, including some weekends and public holidays
• Prior experience in working with AI/social media tools a plus
• Suitably experienced candidates may take on a supervisory role, which include duties such as vetting content, people‑management, and spearheading cross‑team initiatives
