As Head of International Network Operations, you will lead operations activities for Telstra International’s (TI) transport network and subsea infrastructure, with a focus on network points of presence across Asia‑Pacific, including the largest intra‑Asia carrier‑owned subsea cable system.

The Focus of the Role

You will lead network monitoring, fault detection and resolution, backbone and customer order provisioning for transport services, maintenance planning, and change and problem management, while driving continuous improvement in process execution, service uptime and network performance. The role requires experience and strong leadership in network technologies, data analytics, AIOps development and implementation, stakeholder engagement, and communications, as well as collaboration with global operating centers and vendors.

Success in this role means rapid fault identification and resolution, proactive incident avoidance, and fast time‑to‑market for capacity augmentation and customer orders. This role will also make a leadership contribution to the implementation of a highly autonomous network for key operational use cases.

This role will be located in Singapore.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead operations activities for TI’s transport network and subsea infrastructure, ensuring superior service uptime and network performance.
  • Oversee network monitoring, fault detection, isolation, response and resolution.
  • Manage customer orders and backbone provisioning for transport services, maintenance planning, change and problem management.
  • Set and lead execution of a vision for highly autonomous network use cases for Network Operations.
  • Drive AIOps development and implementation, including AI‑driven fault detection, service impact assessment, and predictive analytics for network performance.
  • Collaborate with operating centers in Singapore, Malaysia, Los Angeles, and the Global Operations Centre (GOC) in Australia, including vendor and third‑party off‑net operations centers. The role also works closely with Customer Success, Network Engineering, Marine Operations and Field Services.
  • Engage stakeholders and communicate effectively across the business.
  • Deliver rapid fault identification and resolution, proactive incident avoidance, and fast time‑to‑market for capacity augmentation and customer orders.
  • Lead a team of 4 direct reports, each with ~10 people, plus relationships with vendors and another 20‑30 people.
  • Front up to customers, deal with Executives, and demonstrate strong leadership in communication and engagement.
  • Develop and maintain commercial operations processes.
About You
  • Experience with global networks, transport and subsea technologies and OSS, especially in intra‑Asia and major international routes.
  • Demonstrates a strong customer focus and consistently responds with urgency to meet customer expectations.
  • Familiarity with operational excellence methods and tools for running effective operations.
  • Ability to accelerate work, deal with complexity and uncertainty, and resolve problems quickly.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management including customers and vendors.
  • Highly analytical and commercial; able to structure and interpret data, understand business systems and data tooling.
  • Innovative thinker, willing to challenge norms and drive change.
  • Strong problem‑solving and change management skills.
  • Experience with telecom carriers, subsea cable operations, and understanding of the evolving landscape with tech firms and hyperscalers.
  • Ideally, you will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
