The role includes monitoring and supporting LAN/WAN/Wireless networks, ensuring optimal system performance, and handling network alerts 24/7. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Computer Science or Engineering, strong experience with Cisco hardware, and knowledge of TCP/IP and routing protocols. This position demands effective communication and meticulous attention to detail, along with robust troubleshooting skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience in data center network monitoring and operations.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP and routing protocols, such as OSPF, BGP.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for tier-1 network monitoring and operations of customer's IDC network.
  • Promptly respond and drive resolution of various network alarms and faults.
  • Conduct network maintenance and follow up on network breakfixes.

Job description
Network Operations Engineer (NOC - Data Center)

This person is responsible for supporting Data Center NOC network communications, including maintaining, and monitoring LAN/WAN/Wireless network environment needed to provide a great end user experience.

Utilizes LAN/WAN/Wireless network monitoring tools to ensure optimal system utilization, performance and system availability.

Supports vendors to install, maintain, and troubleshoot systems and services vital to organization’s business. Contributes to highly complex technical projects.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for tier-1 network monitoring and operations of customer's IDC network, providing 24/7 support, on a 3x 8-hour shift rotation. Total 40-hour work week, with days off.
  • Responsible for promptly responding to, following up on, and driving the resolution of various network alarms and faults. Escalate to tier-2 engineer if needed.
  • Responsible for following up and finishing network breakfixes like switch replacement, link repairing and dark fiber restoration.
  • Work with IDC technicians to conduct physical work and provide proper instruction remotely.
  • Responsible for conducting network maintenance.
  • Summarise daily monitoring and operations work into documents and regularly share within the team.
  • Must be available evenings and weekends as situations required.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience in data center network monitoring and operations.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco switching, routing and wireless hardware, software and support.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP and routing protocols, such as OSPF, BGP (ISIS), ARP, STP, OTN etc. Multi-vendor experience is a plus.
  • Responsible, meticulous, have good communication skills.
