Position: Multi-skilled Therapy Assistant (ANDS)

Job Description
The Therapy Assistant will be joining our Adult NeuroDevelopmental Service (ANDS) to carry out therapeutic interventions/activities for the patients in this service.
Job Responsibilities
- Facilitate ward observations including behavior observation methods (ABC chart, frequency monitoring, Setting Event Checklist).
- Assess the communication style of patients.
- Assess activities of daily living.
- Carry out prescribed sensory, behavioural and communication strategies with selected patients.
- Train, supervise, and maintain the functional skills of patients in basic activities for daily living, community living, social and recreational participation.
- Build individualized resources for patients and assist in improvement projects and creation of therapy materials (e.g., compilation of communication passports, creating visuals for activities, taking photos of new patients).
- Serve as communication partners for patients (e.g., intensive interaction).
- Collaborate with allied health professionals to implement ward-based programmes and/or transition to community-based programmes for ANDS patients, including portering for activities.
- Attend trainings and courses recommended by the ANDS team, including on-the-job trainings and in-services.
- Complete daily documentation co-signed by clinical supervisors by the end of the day.
- Adhere to infection control guidelines as stipulated in NHG/ IMH’s policy.
- Any other tasks assigned by the Reporting Officer and Clinical Supervisors.
Requirements
Competency
- Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills
- A passion to work with patients, and a good learning attitude
- Experience in working with persons with intellectual disability and/or autism spectrum disorders is preferred
Educational and Professional Requirements
- NITEC/Higher NITEC qualifications in Paramedic & Emergency Care, Community Care & Social Services or Nursing, with at least 2 years of related work experience.
- Diploma qualifications in Health Sciences, sports, Physical Health or other related disciplines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
