The Medical Laboratory Technologist will perform routine genetic testing, participates in quality control programmes, and assists in laboratory administrative tasks.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Understand test principles and apply them when performing assigned genetic tests.
  • Perform basic result analysis and interpretation.
  • Optimise or validate tests to improve test performance when necessary.
  • Perform and monitor required quality control and maintain appropriate documentation.
  • Effectively monitor and maintain equipment, inventory and supplies for smooth running of daily operations.
  • Observe safety standards and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Identify and resolve immediate risk of harm so as to quickly mitigate risks.
  • Communicate effectively with clients on test orders in a timely manner, including clarifying dubious test orders, and advising clients on report status.
  • Comply with all safety and infection control policies.
  • To participate in mass casualty activation protocols.
  • To attend relevant talks / seminars / journal clubs / conferences
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Biomedical Science, Biological Science, Medical Technology or equivalent OR 4 years’ experience with Diploma and Demonstrated competency.
  • Demonstrate professional attitude and behaviour.
  • Adhere to relevant policies and procedures, work instructions and guidelines.
  • Work as an effective member of the team.
  • Organise own workload, practice good time management, and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
