Roles and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and review the design of the Mechanical team by checking specifications, schedules, datasheets, drawings, and 3D models to ensure quality, safety, and technical standards are adhered to.
- Produce and review all design deliverables, including design specifications, schedules, drawings, and calculations, and have a comprehensive knowledge of CAD and BIM design.
- Review clients' or third-party designs and information to determine suitability and liaise with those concerned to obtain further information if necessary.
- Delivering projects across the complete project lifecycle, from front-end engineering design (FEED) through detailed design, technical assurance, testing and commissioning, and final handover.
- Challenge client asset standards where a clear opportunity exists to use an alternative, cost-effective process or product without reducing the overall outcome.
- Carry out tender bid analysis for various items of plant.
- Complete deliverables on time and to budget and, where necessary, manage the deliverables of others to ensure deliverables dates and budgets are maintained.
- Manage/monitor the work of others in the organisation or project team as necessary, including checking and/or reviewing their work.
- Candidate shall prepare fee estimates, design programme and liaison with clients to agree project deliverables.
- Candidate shall carry out quality control review of design calculations, General Arrangement Drawings, 3D models and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, TOTEX and CAPEX.
- Preparing technical mechanical specification sections.
- Carry out subcontractor or third-party design reviews until these are accepted.
- Ensure that standard practices are utilised wherever possible.
- Ensure provide services which focus on customer satisfaction.
- Ensure that the design fully considers all health and safety requirements, including, but not limited to, CDM 2015 regulations.
- Ensure that the design takes full regard for all health and safety requirements.
Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Possess 8 years of experience in mechanical design works, preferably with contractor experience in water and wastewater industry
- Experience in water and/or wastewater treatment processes and relevant mechanical design criteria will be advantageous, by reviewing pump calculations, hydraulic calculations, P&IDs, Process Flow Diagrams and technical specifications
- General experience in other discipline criteria associated with water and/or wastewater treatment, including civil, process, EICA and project management, will be an advantage.
- General understanding of client regulatory environments.
- Budget management experience will be an advantage.
- Ability to rationalize designs and produce economic plant layouts.
