An international trading company based in Singapore is looking for a mid to senior-level professional to lead operations and drive business development in the yarn and textile industry. Responsibilities include managing a team, overseeing shipment processes, and executing marketing initiatives. Ideal candidates should have over 5 years of experience in international trade, strong leadership skills, and an understanding of compliance documentation. Team Leadership: Manage and supervise a small operations team responsible for payment tracking, shipment documentation, Certificates of Origin (COO) and insurance processing, bank statement checks, and general logistics support. Provide guidance, training, and oversight to ensure their tasks are completed accurately and on time.
Operational Management: Plan, organize, and coordinate daily trading operations. Maintain and update key internal files and records ensuring all information is current and accurate.
Shipping & Compliance: Oversee end-to-end shipment processes and documentation. Liaise with freight forwarders, banks, and insurance providers to facilitate smooth export/import transactions. Ensure all shipping documents (e.g. bills of lading, COO, insurance certificates, LCs) comply with regulatory requirements and are processed correctly in a timely manner.
B2B Sales & Business Development: Drive business-to-business sales and outreach efforts in the yarn and textile industry. Identify and engage potential clients and trading partners, develop relationships, and convert leads into sales to expand the company’s wholesale customer base and increase revenue.
Marketing & Trade Shows: Plan and execute marketing initiatives to generate leads and promote our products (yarns, fibers, textiles and related commodities). This includes managing digital marketing campaigns, coordinating with industry partners, and representing the company at relevant trade shows and industry events. You will be the company’s ambassador at these events – networking, showcasing our offerings, and gathering market intelligence.
Strategy & Reporting: Work closely with senior management to develop and implement strategies for market expansion and operational improvement. Monitor sales targets and operational KPIs, prepare regular reports on trading activities, and recommend process enhancements to improve efficiency and profitability.
Experience: Mid to senior-level professional with 5+ years of experience in international trade, commodities, logistics, or the textile industry. Proven track record in a role that combined operations management with sales/marketing responsibilities is highly preferred.
Industry Knowledge: Strong background in wholesale trading and logistics. Familiarity with the yarn and textiles sector or related commodities will be an advantage. In-depth understanding of cross-border trade processes, incoterms, and supply chain management is desired.
Leadership Skills: Experience in managing and supervising staff, with the ability to lead a team, delegate tasks, and mentor junior colleagues. Excellent organizational and people-management skills to coordinate multiple operational activities and ensure team productivity.
Documentation & Compliance: Proficiency in handling international shipping documentation and compliance procedures. Solid knowledge of Letters of Credit (LC), trade finance, import/export regulations, and customs documentation. Keen attention to detail to ensure all paperwork (e.g. contracts, invoices, COO, insurance policies, bank statements) is in order and compliant.
Communication: Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate professionally with global clients, suppliers, banks, and government bodies. Additional language skills (especially in regions we operate) are a plus.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, International Trade or a related field is preferred. Relevant professional certifications in trade or logistics would be advantageous.
Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, especially in troubleshooting operational issues and negotiating deals. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) for updating master sheets and reports. Self-motivated, results-driven, and capable of working independently to meet goals.
