Job summary

A leading property and hotel group in Singapore is seeking a Legal Counsel. In this role, you will assist in managing legal risks and provide legal advice across departments. You should hold a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and have at least 2 to 3 years of post-qualification experience. Excellent drafting skills and strong communication abilities, particularly in English, are essential. Familiarity with SGX listing requirements and corporate secretariat work is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Competency in Mandarin preferred for projects in China.

Recruitment Fraud Cases

We have been made aware of a number of cases where individuals and organisations have claimed to be recruiting on behalf of UOL Group Limited and our subsidiaries. These perpetrators have been known to send out bogus emails and letters, put up fraudulent websites using our information to advertise for jobs, call and set up interviews, offer fictitious employment opportunities, seek job‑seekers’ personal information, and possibly request payment to process applications for jobs that do not exist.

Please manage with care and note the following:

(i) We will not make a job offer before the completion of one or more formal interviews with our Human Resource Department.

(ii) We will only send emails from the @uol.com.sg domain when we contact you directly and when we make a job offer.

Legal & Secretariat

Responsibilities

You will assist Management in ensuring legal risks are adequately managed across operational, transactional and dispute resolution matters in line with our commercial objectives and provide effective solutions to legal issues. On an ongoing basis, you will be required to provide legal advice to various departments within the Group, review and draft contracts and agreements as well as liaise with and/or supervise external parties, including external counsel.

Requirements
  • A good Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree and admission as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore
  • At least 2 to 3 years of post‑qualification experience in a law firm, listed local company and/or MNC
  • Excellent drafting and negotiating skills
  • Good commercial acumen, strong interpersonal skills and teamwork, with the ability to prioritise and manage work efficiently
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Competency in Mandarin is preferred to support the Group’s projects in the People’s Republic of China
  • Familiarity with any of the following will be an advantage:
    • SGX listing requirements
    • Corporate secretariat work
    • Real estate/hospitality work
    • AML/CFT
    • Data protection laws
    • Dispute resolution
