Job Summary
The Lead Buyer will be responsible for managing and executing procurement activities for FPSO projects, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality materials, equipment, and services in accordance with project requirements. This role oversees vendor management, commercial negotiations, contracting, and procurement strategy while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards. The Lead Buyer will work closely with engineering, project management, and supply chain teams to support project execution from FEED through commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Sourcing
- Lead the end-to-end procurement process for major equipment, packages, and services related to FPSO topsides, hull, and marine systems.
- Develop sourcing strategies and identify qualified vendors aligned with project technical requirements.
- Prepare and issue RFQs, evaluate bids (technical and commercial), and conduct negotiations to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms.
- Perform cost analysis, price benchmarking, and market research for critical packages.
Vendor Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with global OEMs, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Manage vendor qualification, performance evaluation, and risk assessment.
- Coordinate vendor clarification meetings and resolve technical–commercial issues with engineering teams.
Contracting & Compliance
- Work with legal and contracts teams to prepare purchase orders, frame agreements, and commercial terms.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, procurement procedures, and industry best practices.
- Manage change orders, delivery schedules, and logistics requirements.
Project Coordination
- Collaborate closely with engineering, planning, logistics, QA/QC, and expediting to ensure materials and equipment are delivered according to project timelines.
- Provide regular procurement progress reports and updates to project management.
- Support expediting activities to resolve delays and ensure on-time delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- Minimum 8–12 years of procurement experience, with at least 5 years in FPSO or offshore oil & gas projects.
- Strong knowledge of EPC contracting, topsides/mechanical packages, rotating/static equipment, or marine systems.
- Proven negotiation skills and experience managing high-value procurement packages.
- Familiar with Incoterms, international procurement, and global supply markets.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and vendor interface skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
