Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and highly motivated Investment Associate to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with experienced team members to conduct financial, commercial, and operational due diligence of investment opportunities. This includes producing documentation and presentations for investment decisions, managing stakeholders and project execution for each transaction in an entrepreneurial, fast‑paced environment with frequent opportunities to interact with the firm’s senior leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Deal Sourcing – Identify and evaluate potential investment opportunities in the maritime industry and related sectors, establish and maintain a strong network of industry contacts, attend industry events and conferences to identify new opportunities and stay up‑to‑date on market trends.
  • Deal Screening – Perform initial analysis of potential investment opportunities, assessing fit with Motion Ventures’ investment strategy and criteria, develop and maintain a pipeline of potential investments, conduct thorough financial, commercial, and operational due diligence on potential investments, prepare and present investment memos, financial models, and other documentation to support investment decisions, collaborate with the investment team in deal negotiations, structuring, and execution, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Prior experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, or management consulting, preferably with a focus on the maritime industry.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, with the ability to evaluate and assess investment opportunities objectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with entrepreneurs, co‑investors, and other stakeholders.
  • Proactive, self‑motivated, and detail‑oriented, with a strong ability to multitask and work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Passion for innovation and entrepreneurship, with a keen interest in the maritime industry and its potential for growth.
