This role involves developing corporate standards and leading a team of engineers in the offshore oil & gas sector. The ideal candidate must have over 20 years of experience, including significant leadership roles in FPSO projects. Job description

Head of Discipline is a Corporate Manager of Topside Process Discipline which all topside process engineering resources belong to and supports all projests to supply them with process engineers including recruitment. Head of Discipline takes a lead to develop corporate technical standards/procedures, work flow, engineering platform (e.g. process design data integration) and keep them updated, integral, practical and fit to purpose with incorporating Project Lesson Learnts. Head of Discipline manages all topside process resources and monitor feasibility studies/FEED/EPCI project progress to assign appropriately competent resource to each prospective/ongoing project as per the close communication with Project Management Teams (PMTs). Head of Discipline is also a custodian of Lesson Learnts database for Project execution and Operation & Maintenance phases and disseminate them to all project teams to ensure agile preventive or mitigative actions and design standardization. Head of Discipline may become Project Discipline Lead - Topside Process concurrently and therefore, the candidate requires hands-on topside process engineering experience. Head of Discipline reports to Head of Topside Engineering and update area of concerns, project manning plan, project progress and forecasts periodically (e.g. weekly basis) and attend corporate periodic meeting (e.g. weekly). Head of Discipline develop career development plan for each engineer/designer and provides opportunities to attend international conferences, training courses etc. This role may require frequent travel to the US, Europe, and Asia.

The ideal candidate of the position will have a strong leadership and a strong background in Offshore Oil & Gas Industry, be an expert in Topsides Process Engineering, and provide strategic focus in the Topsides Process Engineering for Conceptual/pre-FEED/FEED/EPC(I) projects of FPSO, FLNG or offshore facilities. The strategic focus will also include providing support to Hanwha Ocean engineering teams based at Houston/Seoul/Amsterdam/Singapore and elsewhere as necessary including Conceptual, pre-FEED and FEED for projects in the offshore area in the future.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Report to Head of Topside Engineering
  • Manage Topside Process Engineering Discipline - a part of Corporate organization
  • Manage project assignment of Topside Process Engineering resources
  • Conduct recruitment of Process Engineers/Designers together with HR
  • Take a lead to develop corporate technical standards/procedures, workflow, engineering platform (e.g. process design data integration) and keep them updated, integral, practical and fit to purpose with incorporating Project Lesson Learnts.
  • Monitor feasibility studies/FEED/EPCI project progress for support to Projects
  • Take a lead to develop Lesson Learnts database - Topside Process for Project execution and Operation & Maintenance phases and disseminate them to all project teams to ensure agile preventive or mitigative actions and design standardization
  • Report area of concerns, project manning plan, project progress and forecasts periodically (e.g. weekly basis) to Head of Topside Engineering
  • Attend corporate meetings and disseminate corporate decisions and strategies to topside process team
  • Develop career development plan for each engineer/designer and provide opportunities to attend international conferences, training courses etc.
  • Collaborate with regional offices in Houston/Seoul/Amsterdam and elsewhere
  • May become a Project Discipline Lead - Topside Process Engineering concurrently
Requirements:
  • Minimum Bachelor Degree or Master Degree in Petroleum or Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum 20 years experience in the offshore or onshore oil and gas industry
  • Minimum consecutive 10 years experience at top-tier FPSO contractor or Offshore/Onshore EPC contractor (minimum 10 years continuous working experience in the same contractor)
  • Minimum 2 FPSO EPCI Project experience from the beginning of project (engineering) until the sail‑away to site or delivery of FPSO
  • Minimum 2 FPSO FEED/EPCI Project experience as a Project Lead - Topside Process including Topsides Process Conceptual / Feasibility Studies
  • Hands‑on process engineering experience in FPSO or Offshore EPCI projects, especially process simulation (steady state, dynamic), HB/MB, utility consumption, blowdown/flarenet studies, hydraulic calculation, line sizing, equipment sizing, control narrative, HAZOP or Technical Safety Action Close‑out etc.
  • Hands‑on Field Engineering in Construction phase or Onshore/Offshore commissioning experience is value‑added.
  • The experience or familiarity with Zero carbon emission, CCUS technology etc is value‑added.
  • Versed with Process Engineering Tool such as Aspen HYSYS, Flarenet, Pipe‑net or equivalent and ability to interpret result of process simulation
  • Extensive knowledge of process engineering practices, principles, industry codes and standards - as well as an understanding of scientific methods of problem‑solving.
  • Capacity to manage corporate organization
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work with and to communicate effectively with co‑workers, vendors, clients and manage multiple priorities.
