Job summary

Qualifications

• Extensive training in all aspects of food preparation, kitchen management, and food safety.
• Many aspiring chief cooks begin as line or apprentice chefs and work up the hierarchy.
• Several years of experience in a professional kitchen with progressive roles.
• Strong leadership, management, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement the restaurant's menu.
• Manage daily kitchen operations, including staff scheduling, ordering supplies, and budgeting.
• Train and supervise kitchen staff including sous chefs, line cooks, and dishwashers.
• Coordinate with front-of-house and management to ensure smooth operations and meeting customer needs.
• Stay current with culinary trends by attending classes, workshops, and researching new recipes and equipment.
