Furniture Designer (China Posting – OMIP Participation)

Programme: Overseas Market Immersion Programme (OMIP)

Job Role Description

The Furniture Designer will be responsible to develop and design furniture for Star International through an iterative process that includes conceptualization, technical development, prototype, commercialization, and evaluation.

Key duties include executing design concepts in collaboration with marketing, engineering, and manufacturing teams, covering all stages of the design process from concept development and 3D modelling to prototyping and production ensuring designs align with market needs and company objectives.

This position requires relocation to the China office, with readiness to immerse in the local culture and work closely a team of designers within the production base.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Conduct market research and stay updated on design trends and industry innovations.
2. Develop and present innovative furniture designs to internal stakeholders
3. Create detailed sketches, renderings, and 3D models
4. Select appropriate materials, finishes, and construction methods.
5. Collaborate with engineers and manufacturers to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
6. Prepare technical drawings and specifications for manufacturing.
7. Manage design projects within established timelines and budgets.
8. Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback.
9. Contribute to the development of the company's design language and brand identity.
10. Maintain organized design files and documentation.

Supplemental Responsibilities

• Support marketing and branding activities (e.g., product photography, copywriting, media outreach) occasionally.
• Collaborate with the team to ensure successful participation in industry fairs, including booth activities and visitor engagements.

• Experience in furniture design and development.

• Experience with Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator is an advantage.
