Job description
About the Role:

Dots and Dribble is an artisan boutique brand moving into an exciting new phase. After a successful run in children’s twinning sets, we are expanding our 2027 collection into sophisticated, “anti-cheese” adult and kids’ wear that bridges the gap between traditional Batik and modern, high-end silhouettes.

We are looking for a Technical Designer based in Singapore to help translate our artisan vision into production-ready garments. This is a freelance role starting with a strategy and sampling phase in April 2026.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Technical Development: Creating comprehensive Tech Packs from design sketches (including POMs, construction details, and material specs).
  • Pattern & Fit: Working with hand-drawn Batik fabric to ensure patterns respect the motif placement while providing a modern, comfortable fit for adults and children.
  • Prototyping: Managing the sampling process and refining fits to ensure high-quality construction.
  • Sourcing: Assisting in selecting complementary premium fabrics (linens, high-end cottons) that pair beautifully with our hand-drawn Batik.
Who you are:

A technical expert with a portfolio showing clean construction and thoughtful garment engineering.
Experienced in pattern making and grading (knowledge of children’s and adult sizing is a plus).
Appreciative of heritage crafts—you understand that working with Batik Tulis requires a different level of intentionality than mass-produced prints. Organized, detail-oriented, and based in Singapore for local fit sessions.

Specialized Experience:

Minimum 3 years in fashion design, with a portfolio that includes childrenswear and technical tech packs.

  • Base Size Development: Establish a consistent base sample size for the 2027 collection (e.g., Size 4T or 5Y).
  • Grading Oversight: You will be responsible for creating the “Grading Rules” to ensure the fit remains consistent as we scale down to toddlers and up to older children.
  • Fit Model Management: Identifying and managing “fit models” (children) that accurately represent our target sample size for live testing.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expert in Adobe Illustrator for technical flats and Excel/PLM for Tech Packs.
  • Production & Costing Management:
    • Yield & Consumption Analysis: Calculate precise fabric “yields” for both Batik Tulis (accounting for motif placement) and solid trims.
    • BOM (Bill of Materials): Create a complete list of every single component (zippers, threads, buttons, labels, hangtags) with exact quantities and costs.
    • Factory Liaison: Act as the primary technical point of contact for our production partners. You will translate my vision into their language and troubleshoot any construction issues on the factory floor.
    • Cost Sheet Ownership: Build detailed cost calculations to determine the “Landed Cost” of each garment, ensuring our 2027 collection hits our target margins.

How to apply: Please send your portfolio and a brief note about why you’re interested in heritage-meets-modern design to hello@dotsanddribble.com. Please include your estimated project rates or hourly fee.
