2. Pay particular attention to the running condition of all critical machinery and equipment, including those associated with cargo operations.

3. Ensure critical spare parts are adequately stocked. Instances of vessels’ delay attributable to its inability to sail / perform cargo operations as a result of careless oversight in the proper planning of spare parts supply is clearly unacceptable.

4. All vessels must have a Planned Maintenance System (PMS). Make sure the PMS is implemented effectively onboard all vessels and that it is being followed and used by the crew. Ensure that the vessels’ crew performs all the scheduled tasks in the PMS and proper task completion entries are recorded and punctually reported to the office on a monthly basis.

7. Conduct review of all monthly technical maintenance and operational performance reports of machineries and equipment submitted by the vessels. Follow up and provide remedial instructions / guidance to the vessel on items with defects /deficiencies.

8. Review and analyze each vessel’s report on fuel oil and lub oil consumption. Immediately seek clarification from the vessel concerned, if it is ascertained from the analysis that the reported consumption is incorrect and grossly exceed the normal fuel consumption rate. It is unacceptable to overlook / ignore such cases of gross overconsumption. Take concrete steps to avoid crew pilfering of fuel oil or cargo and continual close monitoring for lapses.

9. Maintain a current register of all vessels’ statutory, classification, safety equipment, port state/harbor master, oil major approval, etc certificates. Ensure timely and proper update of this register and that all certificates status are kept valid and should not at all lapse beyond their due date. Where applicable, arrange for surveyor/inspector/technician attendance in a timely manner to carry out surveys/inspection/ servicing for revalidating certificates that are about to expire.

10. Manage vessels’ operating expenses prudently.
