Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to oversee the company’s finance, accounting, compliance, and human resources functions, while providing strategic financial insights to support sustainable business performance. This is a key role requiring strong professional judgment, independence, and ownership of financial governance, cost management, and people administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and take overall accountability for the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting, including management accounts, balance sheets, and profit & loss statements.
- Provide strategic oversight of the company’s accounting operations, cash flow position, and financial controls.
- Drive financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cost management initiatives to support sustainable business performance.
- Design, implement, and refine costing frameworks and cost control strategies to enhance financial visibility and decision-making.
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable accounting standards and statutory requirements in Singapore.
- Oversee GST, corporate tax, CPF, and statutory employee income reporting, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Act as the primary liaison with auditors, tax agents, corporate secretaries, bankers, and regulatory bodies.
- Establish, enforce, and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal control systems to manage financial risk.
- Review and approve key financial transactions, payment runs, and expense claims with appropriate governance.
- Provide independent financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to management on business performance and strategic matters.
- Oversee human resources governance, including payroll oversight, statutory compliance, and alignment with MOM and Tripartite guidelines.
- Provide oversight of foreign workforce administration and labor compliance matters.
- Support overall business operations by ensuring effective administrative controls and compliance frameworks are in place.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant hands-on experience, preferably in an SME environment, with exposure to finance, accounting, and HR functions.
- Strong knowledge of Singapore statutory and regulatory requirements (IRAS, CPF, ACRA, MOM).
- High level of accuracy, integrity, and professional judgment.
- Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to liaise with Chinese-speaking stakeholders is an advantage.
