Ju Eng Home for Senior Citizens seeks an Executive, Volunteer Management & Community Engagement to develop and support our volunteer programme and community activities for residents.

The role oversees the full volunteer lifecycle, builds partnerships with schools, corporations and community groups, and collaborates with Nursing, Allied Health, Social Work and Operations to ensure meaningful resident experiences.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Communications, Business, Events Management or related discipline.
  • Preferably 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in volunteer management, community engagement, CSR, social services or eldercare would be advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Able to coordinate multiple programmes and stakeholders.

  • Develop and coordinate JEH's volunteer programme and community engagement activities.

Job Summary

The Executive, Volunteer Management & Community Engagement is responsible for developing, coordinating and supporting JEH's volunteer programme and community engagement activities.

The role manages the volunteer lifecycle from recruitment and onboarding through deployment, engagement, recognition and retention, while building sustainable partnerships with community organisations, schools, corporations and other groups.

The role works closely with Nursing, Allied Health, Social Work, Operations and other departments to ensure volunteer and community activities are meaningful, well-coordinated and beneficial to residents.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Volunteer Recruitment &Onboarding
    • Develop and implement volunteer recruitment initiatives.
    • Respond to volunteer enquiries and assess volunteer interests, skills and suitability.
    • Coordinate volunteer registration, screening, orientation and onboarding.
    • Maintain accurate volunteer records and documentation.
  2. Volunteer Deployment
    • Work with relevant departments to identify appropriate volunteer opportunities.
    • Match volunteers to suitable programmes based on residents' needs, volunteer interests and operational requirements.
    • Coordinate volunteer schedules, attendance and deployment.
    • Ensure volunteers receive appropriate instructions and supervision.
  3. Volunteer Engagement &Retention
    • Build strong relationships with individual and group volunteers.
    • Maintain regular communication with volunteers regarding opportunities and activities.
    • Develop volunteer appreciation, recognition and engagement initiatives.
    • Gather volunteer feedback and recommend improvements to the volunteer experience.
  4. Community Engagement
    • Develop and maintain relationships with schools, corporations, community organisations, grassroots groups and other partners.
    • Coordinate community visits and engagement programmes involving JEH residents.
    • Identify opportunities for longer-term partnerships rather than one-off activities.
    • Support intergenerational and community-integration programmes.
  5. Programme Coordination
    • Coordinate volunteer-supported resident activities with relevant internal departments.
    • Ensure activities are age-appropriate, meaningful and aligned with residents' needs and interests.
    • Coordinate logistics including venue, timing, manpower, materials and programme arrangements.
    • Work with Nursing and Operations teams to ensure resident safety and operational requirements are properly considered.
  6. Volunteer Governance & Safety
    • Ensure volunteers understand JEH's policies, confidentiality requirements, safeguarding expectations and appropriate conduct.
    • Maintain proper consent, attendance and volunteer documentation.
    • Escalate incidents, concerns or inappropriate conduct to the relevant supervisor.
    • Support implementation and review of volunteer-management procedures and guidelines.
  7. Partnership Development
    • Maintain database of community and volunteer partners.
    • Follow up with partners and develop opportunities for repeat or sustained collaboration.
    • Support corporate volunteering and CSR initiatives.
    • Work with the Corporate Communications team to publicise suitable partnerships and community impact.
  8. Monitoring & Reporting
    • Track key volunteer indicators such as:
      • Number of active volunteers
      • Volunteer hours
      • Volunteer retention
      • Number of community partners
      • Number of engagement programmes
      • Resident participation
    • Prepare periodic reports and programme evaluations.
    • Recommend improvements based on data and stakeholder feedback.
Requirements
  • Diploma or Degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Communications, Business, Events Management or related discipline.
